A Snippet is a small section of text or HTML code that exists externally to an email. Snippets provide an easy way to implement commonly used design elements into your email content. Instead of creating the same content over and over again you can save it as a snippet, which then gives you the flexibility to insert it into multiple email addresses at any one time.

To add new content into a snippet you can either import an HTML template directly from your computer or from an external location online. To do that, click on the Import button and choose the option which suits you best.

The HTML Editor provides you with tools which will help you to create/edit a snippet. For example, you will have the ability to change the font family, font size, create a hyperlink or even insert a profile field.

Inserting a Snippet into Your Email

Inserting snippets into an email campaign is really simple. In the HTML Editor you should place your cursor where you want to insert your snippet. From the toolbar click the Snippet button and follow the steps to choose, preview and insert your snippet.

Insert Snippet Content

If you choose to insert the snippet content, Maxemail will copy the content of the snippet and paste it directly into the email campaign. Using this option means it will no longer be linked to the original snippet but it will ensure that your reporting remains complete.

Insert Snippet Token

If you choose to insert the snippet token, the content will remain external to the email campaign and a content token will be added to your email to show where the snippet content will be added in at send time. This gives you the benefit of being able to edit the snippet, which will then automatically update the content across every draft email campaign for you. With this approach you will however lose certain aspects of the reporting.

Testing

If you have inserted a snippet content token you can see the fully rendered version of your email campaign by navigating to the preview tab of your email campaign.

Dynamically Including Snippets

Snippets are very useful in conjunction with Rulesets. Combining them allows you to create personalised email campaigns based on information you know about recipients
