Scheduled Summary report
It is possible to have a Summary Report emailed to you on both a weekly and monthly basis.
Setup is done by first clicking on the Schedule button and selecting your desired reporting period.
The weekly and monthly setup dialogues are exactly the same, there are only a couple of options to set:
- Next Run – date / time that the report will next be generated
- Recipients – Selected users who the report will be emailed to
Now as long as the Enabled checkbox is selected the report will be generated and emailed at the Next Run time.
Understanding report range and repeat
Each report will generate for a date range, from midnight to midnight, between two dates to either give a full week or full month (depending on the type of report selected above). Then once the report has run the Last Run field will update to serve as a record of this happening and the Next Run field will auto update to show the next time the report will run.
Here are two examples, one for a weekly report and one for monthly.
Weekly
The report is set up to run on 10th of May 2015 at 09:00.
At that time:
- The report is generated for the date range of 3rd of May 2015 00:00:00 to 9th of May 2015 23:59:59
- The report is emailed to the selected recipients
- Last Run is set to display 10th May 2015 9:00am
- Next Run jumps ahead exactly 1 week to 17th of May 2015 9:00am
Monthly
The report is set up to run on 10th of May 2015 at 09:00.
At that time:
- The report is generated for the date range of 9th of April 2015 00:00:00 to 9th of May 2015 23:59:59
- The report is emailed to the selected recipients
- Last Run is set to display 10th May 2015 9:00am
- Next Run jumps ahead exactly 1 month to 10th of June 2015 9:00am
Unexpected dates
When setting a monthly report it is not possible to set the Next Run date for 29th, 30th or 31st. This is to prevent errors with the Next Run auto rolling on for those months which do not contain those dates.
